Unnamed Every Friday Night Poetry Reading

A night of performance guest hosted by Laura Woltag at Tamarack Oakland on Friday, October 30th (doors 6p, reading 6:30p sharp), with three wondrous writers/makers/musicians:

Mukethe Kawinzi is a transsexual goatherder and land steward working at the intersection of the pastoral, Black agrarianism, queer identity, and contemporary rural life. He currently traverses the open range with a herd of 300 Spanish cashmere range goats to restore coastal prairie, rehabilitate degraded soils, and mitigate the effects of climate change on California native grasslands.

Emily Shapiro is an Oakland-based writer who has work published in Foglifter, The Lambda Literary Review, LSTW, and The Anonymous Sex Journal. Their writing explores playfulness, desire, and the comedy of community. They’re also a co-founder of PRIVATES, a cassette tape based zine that publishes erotic writing read aloud by the authors.

Sarah Coolidge is an indie artist based in Oakland, CA. Inspired by their love of early 2000s indie rock and the meandering lyrics of folk, Coolidge writes intimate songs about trips to the local thrift store, gender confusion, sports fans, accidental injuries, and the fear of losing the people you love. Coolidge released the Sports Fan EP in 2020 on Madeline Kenney’s Copper Mouth Records, followed by their debut album Call Me When You Get There in 2023, working with Maryam Qudus (SPACEMOTH, LA LUZ), Meric Long (THE DODOS), and Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie). Coolidge is set to release Adult Child (their second release with Rocks In Your Head Records) in December 2026.
